The total amount raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery now exceeds £600 million.
Since beginning in 2005, the lottery’s players have raised the nine-figure sum and support thousands of charities and good causes – small and large, in Britain and internationally.
From January until now, players have already raised almost £89 million for good causes. That’s nearly £13 million each month in vital funding for the sector at a time when it’s needed most.
This funding benefits charities and good causes working to end loneliness and isolation, support those living with cancer and their families, bring justice and fight gender inequality, provide clean water and access to school education for some of the world’s poorest communities, and much more.
The fundraising milestone follows a new £50 million cap on the annual sales of charity lotteries. This change in lottery law, which came into force last week, means more funds can now be made available for good causes.
Laura Chow, head of charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: "In just three years, players have more than doubled the total amount raised to over £600 million. This is truly an incredible achievement.
"The funding that millions of people across Britain raise by playing People’s Postcode Lottery makes a positive and lasting impact on lives and communities across the country and beyond.
"It’s meant DePaul UK can continue to provide safe accommodation to young people who become homeless, it’s allowed Magic Breakfast to provide thousands of children with healthy nutritious breakfasts; it’s helped Marine Conservation Society protect our oceans and coastlines; it’s supported Dementia Adventure to support people with dementia to live healthier, more active and enjoyable lives.
