John Nicolson MP is to host an open showcase for charities and community groups in the constituency to highlight the funding opportunities available, thanks to money raised by the players of People’s Postcode lottery.

The Zoom event will take place at 10am on Friday 10 of July, with local charities and community groups invited to join the MP and People’s Postcode Lottery to discuss the financial support available to good causes throughout the constituency.

The showcase will also provide an opportunity for charities and community groups to come together to hear more about the application process to access funding.

To date, good causes in Ochil and South Perthshire have benefitted to the tune of £95,739 thanks to People’s Postcode Lottery players and the MP hopes that the event will unlock further opportunities for good causes.

Commenting, John Nicolson said: "I know from the many conversations I’ve had with charitable causes in my constituency of Ochil and South Perthshire over the past few months just how severe the impact of the lockdown has been upon their finances.
"As important fundraising events have been forced into postponement, I’m fully aware that community groups and charities will be looking for alternative ways to support the great work that they do in our constituency. That’s why I am delighted to be hosting this event which aims to connect local good causes and community groups with funding raised thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery."

Thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, more than £8 million funded thousands of community groups and good causes across Britain last year.

Community programmes advisor at People’s Postcode Lottery, Katherine Sellar added: "The money raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery is making a huge difference in communities across the country.
"We want to do all we can to help local charities and good causes successfully apply – particularly at a time when many are losing out on essential funds. Our free virtual workshop is a useful opportunity for smaller, local charities and groups to find out about the funding available, get pointers on applying and ask us any questions."

More than £500 million has been raised for thousands of charities and good causes, thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
