Care charity Kinship supports the grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, other family members and friends who step up to raise children when their parents aren’t able to. They campaign for every kinship family to have the recognition, value and support they need and deserve.

Thanks to the support of People’s Postcode Lottery players, Kinship’s expert advice service is available for free to all kinship carers in England and Wales. The financial, legal, practical and emotional support and understanding the charity provides is open to kinship families from the moment they need it, for as long as they need it.

Funding raised thanks to players has also been crucial to support the exponential growth of Kinship’s community, which recently welcomed its 8,000th member.

To celebrate and show appreciation for the important work of kinship carers in England and Wales, Kinship celebrates Kinship Care Week this week (4th to 8th October).

This week is an opportunity to raise awareness of the incredible role kinship carers play in children’s lives and in society, and to celebrate and share stories of love, friendship and support. It’s the time for kinship carers to talk about how proud they are of the amazing children they’ve raised, and to thank the people who have been there for them along the way - supporting them through the toughest times.
